It is easily soluble in water, ethylalcohol, glycerol, and insoluble in acetone, diethyl ether and acetic acid. And it is corrosive on skin, fiber, glass and ceramic.
Uses:
It is important chemical basic material and has wide application range. In chemical, it is used to manufacture formic acid, oxalic acid, borax, carbolic acid, soap and synthetic detergent etc; in textile industry, it is used as cotton fabric desizing agent, boiling off agent, vat dyes and so on. In metallurgy industry, it is used for aluminium hydroxide, alumina and metal surface treating agent manufacturing. In addition it is widely used in enamel, medical, cosmetic, leather, coating, pesticide and glass industry.
